Character Build: Cáel

Hello everybody!

This week on Character Build I’m focusing on the best friend to the main character and Prince of the North – Cáel. As many in the north have ginger hair and light complexion it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Cáel follows suit. With his curly ginger locks, pale skin covered in freckles, and strong bone structure similar to his father it is clear Cáel’s a Northerner. Here’s the build I made for reference. Enjoy! ^.^

Dialogue Prompt: Never Capable

nevercapable

She peered through the bars that hummed soft in the silence of the damp, narrow hall. He sat there, legs crossed. His green eyes danced over her face and then to her shoulders. He was trying to read her; trying to figure out what she was going to say.

“I asked you for one thing – honesty – but now I know you were never capable of that.” The words escaped her lips like a quick breath. His face scrunched. He shook his head, bolting to his feet charging the bars.

“No, I’ve been nothing but honest with you. I wouldn’t lie ta you, Li… never.” He gripped the bars tighter when he noticed her take a step back.

“Then why are you in La’reen? Why did you come?” She spat, narrowing her eyes. “And don’t give me ‘I’m here to see you’ bull because I know that isn’t the whole truth.”

They stared at each other in silence. He gnawed the inside of his cheek, darting his eyes to the ground and then back up at her. He pushed away, running his hands through his hair, pacing back towards the wall. He muttered something to himself before looking back at her.

“Promise me…” He ground his teeth and cracked the knuckle of his left thumb before continuing, “promise me that you won’t hate me… that you’ll forgive me for what I’m about ta say.”

She forced a breath when her ribs tightened at hearing his words. Whatever he was going to say wasn’t going to be an innocent mistake; she knew that. What he was about to tell her was going to be worse then all the other horrible atrocities he had admitted to prior to his incarceration. Was she willing to forgive him? She could easily say she would but would she physically be capable of seeing him as the same man she cared for after whatever he was about to confess.

After a moment of silence her head nodded without her order. Somewhere inside her believed she was capable, or maybe she hoped it wouldn’t be as horrible as he was making her believe it to be.

“I promise… now what is it?”

Old Word Friday: Resarciate

Hello World Out There World!

This week on OWF I bring you resarciate. This word was created around the 1656 and reached pique popularity one year later in 1657. I’m sure this word is used today, not saying that any of the words I have posted thus far aren’t in use, but it isn’t commonly used or used in popularity. Hence it being on the OWF posts.

Now, that that is out of my system let’s learn a little more about the word resarciate. The word is a verb (action, state, or occurrence) and means ‘to mend or to make amends’.

How do you pronounce resarciate?

RE-SAR-SEE-ATE

Examples of this word in a sentence:

I want to resarciate my problems before they get too far out of hand.

Or…

My sister wants to resarciate her relationship before it’s too late.

Or…

My mother told me it was better to resarciate then let things fester.

Should this word make a come back?

When it comes to the word resarciate I could see it being used in a more educational setting, like in schools – specifically a private school setting. I could also see this word being popular in more European countries but not in North America. The word sounds like something those in a higher institution would be using to discuss politics. I do like the word and will likely use it in my future books but in everyday conversation with a stranger on the street I’ll continue to use the words that make up its definition.

Character Builds: Liora

When it comes to writing about characters sometimes it’s helpful to have a general collection of images to reference. I use this as a resource and it is easy to add to it with each book I create. Today I’m focusing on the main character of the Prophecy Six SeriesLiora – as she is the one with the most description and is in all sense the most important of the characters to get the details right with. So, here is the character build I made for her:

liora-character-build

Her clothing style may change and as the book continues there will be new scars I’ll have to add for reference but for the first book this is what I had planned. These images help me visualise the character and make them consistent through the pieces I’m constructing.

I made this in MS Paint and I’ve found it very helpful compared to my old method of hunting through my notes or books for the details I’ve written about her. I hope this method will help some of you in your writing process when approaching character creation. 🙂

Official Website Update: Groups

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday I worked more on the official canon website found HERE. This time instead of updating the map I decided it would be interesting to update one of the groups that you will likely come across in the upcoming books. If you are interested in learning more about the Hanging Boatmen CLICK HERE – if not continue on as you were. 🙂

That’s all for now. Toodles. ^.^

Dialogue Prompt: Saying Sorry

SAYINGSORRYPROMPT.jpg

“Saying sorry doesn’t mean anything if you keep doing it,” she glance up from her book to the man sitting at the edge of her bed. He growled, knowing all to well she was right. “The only way she’ll accept your apology is if you mean it this time.”

“I do!” He spat, punching the mattress.

“Do you?” She lifted a brow, recognizing the defeated look plastered across his freckled face.

His nostrils flared with each of his heavy breathed before he sucked in a long inhale to calm himself. He looked back over his shoulder at the young woman curled up like a little bird in her nest of pillows with the awkward sized text blanketing her lap. She was looking at him with her steel grey eyes waiting for his answer.

“I want it to…”

Prophecy Six Update: Kadmir

Hey Everyone,

As there is only a month left until book 2 comes out I thought I’d make some more updates to the Official Cannon website for Prophecy Six where you can find all the information you want pertaining to characters, the world’s history, and other awesome information.

Today I made two updates:

  1. Updated the Characters of Prophecy Six – specifically Liora (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE)
  2. Add a new location to the Map of Gaitan – Kadmir (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE)

Now, I wrote Liora’s bio in the past but with the second book coming out I thought it would be good to update it. You can now find out more about her abilities and why her hair turns white. As for Kadmir, those of you that are interested in finding out how the war between the nations started would probably find this update very interesting.

Anyways, that’s all I have for now. I am going to be updating more now as time draws closer to the release of book 2 – Children of Sirphan – on December 20th. Toodles for now. 🙂
