Update: Child of the Light Smashwords Reaches 100 Downloads!

Firstly, all of you who have supported me throughout this process are amazing. Your support, suggestions, and comments make me look forward to posting on this blog.

With that said, I want to announce that book 1 of the Prophecy Six series has reached 100 downloads on Smashwords!reached101

I know 100 isn’t a big number but I’m so excited that my book has gotten this many downloads with so little marketing. Marketing isn’t my strong suit – being an introvert with a self-doubting complex doesn’t help – but wow! Wow! 100 downloads…

Well damn… I’m happy with that.

Anyways, Child of the Light is still FREE on Smashwords – so don’t be afraid to check it out if you haven’t already. If you have, you’re amazing and fantastic and thank you so much for taking the time to download this!

Without you – my readers and followers – Prophecy Six wouldn’t be as fun to work on. Again, thank you. 🙂

If I Had 100 Dollars Writing Contest End Date Change

Really people! I gave you two weeks to send me your submissions and not one of you entered. This is to help people… this is for a good cause…

All right, I’ll give you all a second chance. I will not end the contest today. The new end date is on MARCH 5/2016. That is a Saturday, by the way. Hopefully this time I’ll have at least someone enter.

The rules are as follows:

Write a Blog Post no less than 100 and no more than 3000 words with the title – If I Had 100 Dollars

The post will be about a charity that’s main focus is about children, education, or literacy. (There are a lot of options out there for these… I know… I’ve looked…)

The post should talk briefly about the charity and why you think they deserve the donation. What made you choose this charity? Why do you want me to choose this charity? Also include a link to the charity site (so I can check it out and learn more about the charity you have written about).

If you don’t want to blog or can’t blog, send me your post by email.

Tweet me the link to your post @DProphecy6 or email me at prophecy6@outlook.com.

The end date for this will be March 7TH, 2016.

NOW, what will I do and what will the winners get:

  1. I will either reblog or post the charity winners on my site on MAR 7th, 2016.
  2. I will print screen the completed transactions of the donations to my blog by MAR 7th, 2016.
  3. I will also follow the winners’ blog and reblog seven of their posts.
  4. The winners will also get a signed paperback version of the first and (eventually) second P6 book.

Happy Valentine’s Day

hearts.jpg

Now… I’m not one to celebrate these kind of holidays but for all of you that do I’ll make an exception and will wish you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

To those without that special someone, you are still loved and it isn’t the end of the world if you do not have a hot tamale there to share the day with. Hug your pets, call a friend, or family member. Valentine’s Day is a day to show your love to everyone you care about – not just the one you are in a relationship with.

So, with all that being said – you have all been a great support to me throughout this year. I may not know you in person but I know you through interacting with you on this blog. I want to tell you that all of you are amazing and wish you all an awesome-tastic Valentine’s Day.

Love and Hugs,

Deanna 🙂

Wonderful Word Wednesday: Seven Words

SEVENWORDS.jpg

As promised in yesterdays post – Two Gifts To My Followers – I am now going to share with you seven interesting, weird, and wonderful words.

|ONE| Snickersnee

This word is another name for a knife that is used as a weapon, or to cut or thrust something. It is believed to come from the Dutch where it combines two words that together mean ‘a stick or snee that is used to thrust or cut’.

Example of the word in a sentence:

Sally discovered she was unable to snickersnee the weeds behind her house.

|TWO| Kakorrhaphiophobia

Over the last couple of weeks I could say I have been suffering from this. To be kakorrhaphiophobic is to have the fear of failure. Everyone has had a moment where they have felt kakorrhaphiophobic… maybe?

Example of the word in a sentence:

The student’s kakorrhaphiophobia was making him worry about his upcoming report card.

|THREE| Quire

Put simple is four sheets of paper or parchment folded to make eight leaves, just like they would with medieval manuscripts. I just love the way this word sounds when you say it.

Example of the word in a sentence:

The scholar gathered together all the parchment available before setting to the task of producing a fresh abundance of quires.

|FOUR| Agerasia

This is a word that means you look much younger than your actual age. My parents and I run into this problem all the time. When my parents first lived together in their later twenties the landlord came to their apartment and asked if their parents were available, as he wanted to discuss the rent.

Much more recently I was trying on dresses for a friend’s wedding when the woman who was working their asked if I was looking forward to my prom… I’m 25 years old… I graduated high school over 6 years ago…

I laughed. She laughed. It got awkward…

I didn’t get the dress.

Anywho, word in a sentence:

Both sides of my family complain about having to deal with peoples’ comments about their youthful appearance. At times it is a great compliment. At others they curse the fact they suffer from agerasia.

|FIVE| Xertz

To eat or drink greedily. To eat or drink with speed.

I like how it has the two least used words in the English alphabet.

Example of xertz in a sentence:

The children xertzed down their Halloween candy before they got home.

|SIX| Dompteuse

This word is the name for female animal trainers. I just thought it was a really weird looking word and so it was added to my list.

Example of the word in a sentence:

Bree, the dompteuse, ushered the lion to jump through the hula hoop.

|SEVEN| Brontide

The low rumbling noise of thunder in the distance.

Example of the word in a sentence:

The couple drove south towards the storm, judging by the brontides.

Two Gifts To My Followers Starting Wednesday!

So… I’ve surpassed my goal for this blog about a day ago….

Seven months ago when I started this blog and my journey to self-publish my book series I had in mind that I knew I was doing something right if I could reach 450 followers.

Well people, it’s happened. It took me seven months but today officially puts me at 451 followers and I’m gosh darn toodly doodly that I have to give something back to you all for your awesome support over these months. Now, how will I be giving back?

Two ways actually.

The first way I’ll be giving back is tomorrow’s WWW post.

For this WWW I will be posting 7 Wonderful Words instead of 1 like I usually do. This is to commemorate the seven months of you being so wonderful that I had to put it into seven wonderful words. (Plus that seems to be your favourite segment on my blog next to Old Word Friday). 🙂

The second way I want to show my thanks for your support actually involves a little more work from you- bare with me while I explain.

The whole point in writing this book – heck this series – was to help people. This whole project started with me, but you all have been their for the ride and I want you all to feel like you’re involved in making things happen.

So…

What I want to do is donate 200 dollars to charity. This isn’t book money… since my first book is being offered for free… but money out of my own pocket. I just want to help others and with a growing community like mine I want everyone here to be able to have a chance to make a difference.

What I want to do is give the money to two charities. That means 100 dollars to each charity. There are a lot of charities out there and so this is where I hopefully get you all involved in this adventure.

The end date for this will be FEBRUARY 15TH, 2016.

NOW, what will I do and what will the winners get:

  1. I will either reblog or post the charity winners on my site on FEB 15th, 2016.
  2. I will print screen the completed transactions of the donations to my blog by FEB 16th, 2016.
  3. I will also follow the winners’ blog and reblog seven of their posts.
  4. The winners will also get a signed paperback version of the first and (eventually) second P6 book.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Forward this to people you think may want to take part. The more entries the better.

I can’t wait to read your posts. 🙂

Merry Christmas

Wishing you all a joyous holiday to everyone. I hope your day is filled with family, love, hope, and joyful memories. Best wishes to you and yours now and in the New Year.

Update: 200 Followers!

Oh my Gods! I can’t believe the P6 GoGaM blog has gotten this many followers in such a short amount of time. I can’t thank you all enough for following my blog. It is you who keep me motivated to update, and you that is helping this become reality. I haven’t posted a book update for a while, but I’ll have you know there is progress. At the moment it is slow going because I am visiting family before the end of the summer, but I am hoping to update more soon.

Again, thank you all so much for being so great!

Toodles for now,

Classy Canuck 🙂
