Introducing Liora of Morza

As many of you know I posted a Character Build for Liora last week. It was around this time I came across a young artist named Masha while I was exploring DeviantArt for world building inspiration. It just so happened Masha was open for commissions and after exploring her amazing work I decided I’d take the chance and see what she could do for me.

I sent her the Character Build for Liora, gave her some other details to add and a week later she came back with the most amazing image I could have ever imagined.

May I introduce to you, Liora of Morza:

Isn’t she amazing! She is just as I pictured she’d be… and there is so much detail – like the scar on her neck or the pattern of the earring and the latches to the book. Oh, man I have to stop or I will go on and one about this picture…

Anywho, I wanted to share this with you all as I thought some of you would love to see her. In the future I hope to work with Masha again for concepts for all my other characters but I need to start selling paid books before I can do that. XD

If you want to check out Masha’s other art pieces, (and I suggest you do because she is incredibly talented), CLICK HERE.

Until next time stay safe, be creative, and as always – Toodles! ^.^

What Inspires Me?

Hello world out there world!!

Today I reached 500 followers and to celebrate this feat I wanted to share with you a few things that inspire me. I know I’ve written about my inspirations in the past, but today’s posted I want to focus on things I found online that have inspired me to write or do something creative. So, without further ado here we go!

If any of you can guess what these pictures inspired you are amazing? XD

Fake Nail Art – Portal Nail Design

Recently I’ve been trying to find new hobbies and for some reason I started to get into nail art. I don’t know why… it kind of just happened.

I think it started when I wanted to wear fake nails but I didn’t want those pre-designed ones you can buy at the drug store. I wanted to personalize my nails with something I enjoy. That’s when I thought of the companion cube and soon my nail idea grew to incorporate the Portal game.

Now, if you aren’t familiar with Portal, it is a classic puzzle game. You solve each level and get to move onto the next – kind of idea. It comes with a story which is too long to write about but if you’re interested in learning more I’ll link you to where you can read about it HERE.

Anyways, after a couple of days I have finally completed the first nail art designs I have and I thought I’d share with you that image:

I’m proud of my first attempt at this and hopefully I’ll get better the more I make.

I think the next set I’m going to make will be Disney inspired. I’ve been listening to the Rapunzel soundtrack and really got some fun ideas I want to test out on nails. Either that or Little Mermaid, since my hair is now teal I think mermaid designs and sea shells would be fun. We shall see how it goes. 🙂

Happy Valentine’s Day

Now… I’m not one to celebrate these kind of holidays but for all of you that do I’ll make an exception and will wish you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day.

To those without that special someone, you are still loved and it isn’t the end of the world if you do not have a hot tamale there to share the day with. Hug your pets, call a friend, or family member. Valentine’s Day is a day to show your love to everyone you care about – not just the one you are in a relationship with.

So, with all that being said – you have all been a great support to me throughout this year. I may not know you in person but I know you through interacting with you on this blog. I want to tell you that all of you are amazing and wish you all an awesome-tastic Valentine’s Day.

Love and Hugs,

Deanna 🙂

A Dying Art: Book Binding

I’m not usually one to share videos on my blog. I enjoy the written word or a special image that triggers the desire to write, but sometimes there is a moment that I just feel like I have to share something.

This is a video of a old coverless book getting a second chance at life. This short video shows you the hardwork and dedication it takes to create the visual protection to preserve the inside written works of a book. The sheer patience and detail that goes into every piece of written work continues to blow my mind.

So, with that being said, I give to you O Encadernador. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Update: 15 days and new cover page!

So, only 15 days ’til I hopefully publish my first book. They are going fast and there is still so much to do… but I will get it done.

Just adding the finishing touches on the story… like putting more showing than telling into the story… fixing small errors I didn’t see before. Nothing too big.

Also, from the title of this post I have a new book cover done up for the book. This one looks 100 times better than the one I had before. Check it out under the About Prophecy Six page.

And… that’s it for now. No knew updates asides from what I’ve shared with you right now. 🙂

Hello everyone,

Firstly, look at the pretty header.

Ooooo, aaaaaahhhh.

Anywho… I’m sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday as I decided spending 9 hours in emerge was the best way to spend a Friday. Who doesn’t love sitting around puking people, or screaming kids while waiting for doctors to run tests on you like an animal in a cosmetics lab…

Yeah… but, the good this is I am healthier today. Yay!

With that, I wanted to share with you some updates asides from the new header.

Check out the About Prophecy Six. It has had some changes to it, which I think (and hope) you’ll like.

I am working away on the book still, and I’m close to being done the second write through. It still needs editing, and the fine tooth comb but it is on track to be done around December.

I can’t believe I’ve only given myself 6 months to do this, but damn it I’ll complete this. XD

That’s all for now. Let me know what you think about the changes. I always love hearing from you.

Classy Canuck

Update: Concept for cover…

This is sort of an update… not about the writing of the book (which is going well as I am on chapter 12) but about another important part of having a book. The cover!

I’m a writer… my artistic expression is that of words. In no way is my art expression that of the drawing variety, but I was playing around with ideas today on what to make for a cover for book 1 and came up with this:

Whenever I’m looking at books I find the simplest looking covers draw my attention. It gets the idea of what I’m looking for across, and although my book is fantasy/ adventure something about this kind of idea strikes me as how my cover should be…

Don’t get me wrong the epic covers on other fantasy books with action fight scenes and magic glowing limbs are cool, but that’s not what this book is about. Maybe one of my books later one will have that kind of awesome cover, but at the moment I’m thinking minimalist approach is the way to go. Am I wrong in thinking that? Should I look at getting a more exciting looking cover, or is this interesting enough to make you want to pick it up and read the back/ look at the description on the ebook site?

I’m looking for what you all think. Maybe some suggestions on how it can be improved? This is going to be my first book, and therefore I know nothing about anything when it comes to book covers asides from what I’m reading online. XD

So, suggestions? Comments? Ideas?

I’m all ears. 🙂
