I’m Back – With An Update!!!

Oh my Gods!

What has it been… a month? Two Months? It feels like a lifetime since I last posted on this blog. Don’t worry, I have my reasons…

I was suffering from a bought of creative burnout. Yes, that is a thing and I’ll tell you how/ why it happened.

After getting a creative intensive job focused towards blogging, social media, and marketing I didn’t have the energy to come home to do that for my own projects (bad I know). I was used to having jobs focused towards accounting and administration work that focused more on number crunching, allowing for my evenings to be the time I could be creative. With a job that focused on thinking outside the box and finding ways to work creatively to promote various businesses I couldn’t find the power to go home and do the same.

Now, that overload of creative usage is coming to an end!!

With a new job on the horizon I will be able to focus my time between math during the day and creative expression in the evenings. This means posting on this blog more often and working on building my author/ book platforms. I will not be posting every day on this blog like I had in the past, but instead focusing on Dialogue Prompts, short stories, and post updates for my other platforms.

So, to break down the plans on what I’ll be doing for what sites here is a list:

Prophecy Six Blog (this site) is going to be focused towards sharing posts from my other platforms, poems/ photography/ recipes, dialogue prompts, and important updates. (Monday and Friday)

Prophecy Six Series Official Site is focused towards world building for my book series, fun updates about the world or books, my store, and any lovely P6 creations my readers may want to share with the online community. (Wednesday)

Deanna Wiltshire Official Site is focused towards fun facts about me (the author), other writing projects I have in the works (fairy tale retelling, paranormal fiction, children’s book, etc.), tips and tricks when it comes to writing, my store, and book reviews of indie-authors/ Canadian Authors. (Tuesday and Thursday)

Getting these up and running will take some time but I appreciate the patience you have given me so far. I miss writing for all of you and hopefully soon, I’ll be back to my regular writing mood.

Toodles for now!

Deanna

UPDATE: Release Date, Official Site & Special Offer

Hello Everyone,

I am hopefully going to post a monthly update from now on. I aim to release these updates the first of every month to let you know about upcoming posts, information pertaining to the Prophecy Six Series, changes in the schedule, and you know… some special offers that you may be interested in, (like at the bottom of this post…)

So, let’s get started:

Upcoming Posts!

As some of you have noticed I have started posting some recipes and my photography on this blog. My goal is to turn Prophecy Six Blog into a place where I can share all my hobbies with you such as my cooking, photography, and DIY projects along with keeping it as a hub for my sharing my writing.

With work and managing several sites online I found it was time to accumulate everything into one ‘mega’ blog in hopes that some of you are interested in what I have to post.

Another series I’m hoping to bring back is Prompts, which I aim to put out every Monday.

The Schedule I have planned is:

MondayWriting, Dialogue, or Character Prompts

Tuesday – Photography, recipe, or DIY

Wednesday – Prophecy Six Focused (Character build, themes, images, book bits).

ThursdayThinking Thursdays

FridayOld Word Friday

Saturday + Sunday – Recovery Days or Special Announcement Days

And yes, before you say it, I know I’m crazy… but that’s part of being a writer.

Prophecy Six Series Announcement:

Today marks only 20 days until book two – Children of Sirphan – is released. I’m so excited I’m just jumping with glee.

As the book is being released I have made some major changes to the Official Book site. Such as:

Updated the About Author’s Page, Layout of the Website, Organization of the site, and Character’s of the Series Pages.

What I have recently added to the site are new location information, information pertaining to the Gods, what the series is about, a contact page, and a subscription page.

Why should you subscribe?
Because the first 50 subscribers it a free e-book version of the second book! I will go into detail about this closer to the release date but you can go to the site now, sign up and you would have reserved a free copy of Children of Sirphan. Subscribers also get updated once month about special events and offers before those who aren’t subscribed, meaning you’re more likely to get the offers before they run out. I’d sign up if I wasn’t the moderator. XD

Anyways, I think I’m done for now. I will be posting another update on December 10th, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Until next time stay safe, get creative, and as always toodles! ^.^

Update: Website Changes and More

Hello World Out There World!

So, right now my count for Inkitt is at 70 downloads remaining – since I promised to keep you up-to-date about the situation.

Another fun thing I want to share with you is the fact I’m getting to work more on my P6 official website. If you are interested in learning more about the world of Prophecy Six and reading about the history of the world this is the place you should check out. I’ll link to the latest update HERE!

Anyways, that is all I have to say for now. I will probably have more to share with you once I get all the beta reading back. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, remember to stay safe, be creative and until next time – toodles! 🙂

Updates: Beta readers and Editing

Hello World Out There World!!

It has been a while since I’ve done an update but I think it is due since I have things to update all you lovelies on. 🙂

First off!

Only 2 months and 15 days until book 2 – Children of Sirphan – is released and I’m starting to freak out. Not that I’m freaking out due to anything bad, it is just so much to do and so little time to do it. I’m excited to have the second book ready to share with all of you and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. 🙂

Second on the list! Beta readers!

I never had beta readers for book one but I decided I’d try something new the second time around. I’ve only heard good things about having beta readers… so we shall see. So far I have three and I’m hoping to find two more before the end of the month since I’m looking to get feedback before November 10th at the latest… since I still need to make those changes and have my editor look over the book one last time before print.

If interested in being a beta reader for book 2 go to my contact page and send me an email with the subject – Interested In Beta Reading Book 2

Third on the List!

If you have followed me on Instagram you have probably seen a picture or two of sketches hinting towards them being in the book. The plan is to have each chapter leading with an image that either reflects something in the chapter or talks about an item mentioned in the book. For example: Liora’s earring, the manifest, Caldor’s pipe… and so on.

Hopefully I will get to share more with you as time goes on, but it is balancing life right now that I’m having to focus my attention to.

Fourth thing!

I have been changing up the content on here lately as I want to try new things to see what you think. If there are any suggestions or things you want me to try my hand at on here let me know. These suggestions could be short stories, more weird/ old words, talking about my writing process or self-publishing experience, or a question you have wanted to ask me but haven’t had a chance to. Just let me know! 🙂

All right… so I think I’ve covered everything I wanted to talk to you all about today.

As always thank you for following me on here. I know it has been crazy with me lately and so thank you for being patient. As things are starting to get figured out with my life I am starting to be able to get back to blogging – as you have probably noticed.

Until next time stay safe, be creative and as always – Toodles! ^.^

Exciting Update!!

For a while I’ve been M.I.A from the blogger-sphere but I have some exciting reasons why.

First is I have completed book two – Children of Sirphan – and it is now entering the first round of editing. At the moment it is 90,000 words – about 12,000 more than the first book. I also believe my writing has improved since the first book, which I always find exciting to see. I believe there is always space to improve even if you have a degree in the subject. 😛

The second exciting news is that I’m currently working on a visual novel for the first book, so expect to see concepts for characters and locations found in the world of Gaitan/ Prophecy Six showing up on here.

Third and final exciting piece of information is that I am working on another project along with all those mentioned above. I’m trying to start a tourism/ local advertising blog for London, Ontario where I write about living and learning about what London has to offer new comers or long time Londoners. This will be local business reviews/ advertising, fun activities/ events going on around the city, and maybe even interview the people living in London to find out why they love this Forest City so much.

It is starting slow… but once I get a few more adventures under my belt I’m certain things will start rolling. We shall have to wait and see.

Wishing all the best with all of you and hopefully I can get back to a more regular schedule with regular content again. 🙂

Toodles,

Deanna

Update: Here’s Things You Should Know

tumblr_n515s2bmnj1s9ed8bo4_500

Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while but I have reason for this. I am so so sorry I haven’t been gracing this blog with my presents as of late. I need to learn to balance my time better but I have so much going on in my life I’ve decided one big update should explain everything to you.

I’ve been in good spirits as of late and just have been really busy trying to find work since moving to a new city. Also I’m trying to finish book two. There are other reasons I’ve also been MIA but before that I want to let you know that I’ve updated the synopsis of book 2 if you are curious to know more about what the second book of the P6 series has to offer. CLICK HERE FOR THAT

Now onto my reasons:

|REASON 1|

Book 2 is almost done the pre-editing process and I’ve gotten to the point where I’m wanting to get peoples thoughts on what I’ve gotten so far. I set up a Wattpad account to do this in hopes of getting a variety of opinions, suggestions, and so on to improve my story.

|REASON 2|

I also have been MIA because I recently found out that someone wishes to turn my book into a visual novel giphygame… which I have to say is pretty exciting since I live for visual novel games. I’ve been spending a lot of time doing my own graphic design projects in hopes of getting the basic ideas for each character flushed out before the game crew takes over. If you want to see some character concepts you can check out my P6 Facebook Page.

I am super excited for this I can’t handle it. :3

|REASON 3|

For a while I’ve been debating on going with a self-publishing company to publish book 2, which has taken a lot of my free time researching which one would fit me. I also came to the conclusion that none of them fit me and I will likely publish on my own again… but I need to figure out ways of getting my book out there.

If any of you have some fun hints on self-marketing your book and are willing to share I’d love you for life!

|REASON 4|nudge-nudge-wink-wink-o

I have sent requests to a couple of book reviewers in hopes book 1 will be reviewed to gain more traction. We shall see what happens there since I haven’t heard anything from anyone yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

If you are looking for a book to review you are more than welcome to review mine.

All right, I think that’s it for now. If I have anything else to add I’ll do another update. Until then stay classy!! 🙂

(And no I don’t feel bad for using that many gifs in one post.)

Update: Child of the Light Smashwords Reaches 100 Downloads!

Firstly, all of you who have supported me throughout this process are amazing. Your support, suggestions, and comments make me look forward to posting on this blog.

With that said, I want to announce that book 1 of the Prophecy Six series has reached 100 downloads on Smashwords!reached101

I know 100 isn’t a big number but I’m so excited that my book has gotten this many downloads with so little marketing. Marketing isn’t my strong suit – being an introvert with a self-doubting complex doesn’t help – but wow! Wow! 100 downloads…

Well damn… I’m happy with that.

Anyways, Child of the Light is still FREE on Smashwords – so don’t be afraid to check it out if you haven’t already. If you have, you’re amazing and fantastic and thank you so much for taking the time to download this!

Without you – my readers and followers – Prophecy Six wouldn’t be as fun to work on. Again, thank you. 🙂

UPDATE: Yeah… it’s been a while

I know… I’m a terrible updater… but at least I’m doing this now.

Some of you know I’ve moved.

The place is bigger. Neighbours are quieter. Area is nicer! All bonuses.

It is also closer to family, which I like since I haven’t seen some of them for six-seven years. I also have a lot of free time now that I’m unemployed to work on my blog and work on my second book – so yay!

Since I’m unemployed and I want to start the publishing process in June (4 ish months away) I’ve been looking at other ways to get the money I need to pay for this process.

As mentioned HERE – I was considering crowd-funding but have since chosen to go the patron route of Patreon. At the moment I’m still working out the kinks for that – like the payment process since I’m not an American citizen – but I’ll let you know when it is up and running.

Patron levels start at $1 and will be once a month – since if I did per story I wouldn’t have any patrons because I know I can write like crazy… so this is best for all of us.

Book Two Draft One is Complete!!

This is both exciting and nerve racking at the same time. I love the draft writing process and dread the editing process… but it is something that needs to be done. At the moment I am going through part by part making sure everything flows and I don’t spot any obvious plot holes… this is also where I like to cut out a lot of words like: before, believed, assumed, needed, need, like, looked, was, been, had, and as.

I will put this book through a third review before June where I’ll send it to my editor for final touch-ups. The third review will be where I add more description, strengthen the dialogue, ensure my characters are betrayed the way I want them to be, and do my last spell/grammar check.

There is still a lot I need to do but it is a process I am now familiar with.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

With that all said, I believe I have caught you all up with what’s going on. Hopefully I will post another update again… probably will when it comes to announcing the opening of my Patreon.

All right… toodles for now!
