World of Gaitan: The Hanging Boatmen

As many of you know I have an official lore site for my book series – Prophecy Six – where I write extra information about the cities, peoples, and histories of the world the series takes place in. You get to learn about the characters mentioned in the series and the creatures which are unique to Gaitan, along with some hints to things not yet mentioned in the books published so far. One of these groups is ‘The Hanging Boatmen’, who will be introduced in the third book – Sons of Lost Kings.

I thought I’d share a little bit about this group and link to the full description found on the official site if anyone is interested in reading more. Enjoy!

Hanging Boatmen is a group of Dermite bandits and thieves that raid the waterways between Derlin (Derm’s Capital) and King’s Port. They are believed to be responsible for the majority of the crime within the capital city and have claimed several heinous actions such as setting fire to the logging camps near Bay’s Lake, the hanging/plundering/burning of several shipping vessels within the shipping channel, raiding the armoury in the lower district of the capital city, and the kidnapping/murder of Lieutenant Rowel Brickton of the Gryphon Guard’s wife and daughters.

Book Two Is Out And It Wasn’t Without Its Challenges

Hello World!

So, the day has finally come to announce the release of book 2 – Children of Sirphan.

Right off the top I’ll tell you I like this book more than my first. I learnt a lot from publishing my first one but the second one has a stronger story and better character development I find.

That, though, isn’t the challenge I am speaking of.

My laptop of eight years has officially died. It took me through university and two books before it decided to go out with a bang. You can say I burned it out… literally…

As I was sitting down yesterday, (December 19th), getting ready to set things up for a smooth launch my laptop had other plans. Within seconds of leaving it on my father-in-law’s couch Mr. Canuck smelt something burning… and well… it wasn’t long before my laptop ended up outside in the snow. Turns out the connection wire burnt out causing all the smoke to happen and the screen to die. I was also lucky to have back ups of the laptop on either online storage or other devices. That meant I was a little behind but not enough to delay the release today!

So, without further delay I want to introduce to you my second book – Children of Sirphan – which is now available for purchase on SMASHWORDS and AMAZON for ebook online. The price for the ebook is $2.99 USD and $3.99 CAD.

Paperback versions will be available closer to the summer as I want to add some special things to the paperback that you won’t be getting with the ebook, (like images for chapter headings and section headings).

If you wish to purchase the newest book of the P6 Series click the links below to be teleported to the shop of your choice. If you have any questions leave them in the comments down below and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Until next time be creative, stay safe, and as always Toodles! ^.^

The Second Book of the Prophecy Six Series is coming out in 3 days! Keep a close eye on the blog for more information closer to December 20th!

1 Month Until Children of Sirphan is Released!

Hello World Out There World!

As you can tell from the title I have exciting news. Children of Sirphan, the second book of the Prophecy Six Series, is being released 1 month from today – December 20th, 2016. I am so pumped to be able to add a second book to the collection and I hope all of you are excited to continue following Liora on her adventures!

With that said I want to give you a little information about Children of Sirphan:

Children of Sirphan follows Liora learning more about her powers and about the Prophecy Six. She soon discovers that she isn’t the only one with powers and that there are five others chosen by the Gods. As she is the first of the Six it is up to her to find them and help them understand/ control their new abilities.

While learning more about her role as the Six’s leader, and fighting with guardians on how she is to act within the Castle of Demor, Liora begins having dreams of a white haired girl standing on a rocky shoreline being swallowed by a flood. Plagued by her dreams and trying to remember/ recover from her own trauma of losing her people Liora is determined to find the answers through finding the strange girl and discovering why she continues to haunt Liora’s mind.

A mystery wrapped in a world of fantasy, approaching social issues in a creative manner with lighthearted/ realistic characters. Find the first chapter of Children of Sirphan HERE.

Updates: Beta readers and Editing

Hello World Out There World!!

It has been a while since I’ve done an update but I think it is due since I have things to update all you lovelies on. 🙂

First off!

Only 2 months and 15 days until book 2 – Children of Sirphan – is released and I’m starting to freak out. Not that I’m freaking out due to anything bad, it is just so much to do and so little time to do it. I’m excited to have the second book ready to share with all of you and I can’t wait to hear what you think of it. 🙂

Second on the list! Beta readers!

I never had beta readers for book one but I decided I’d try something new the second time around. I’ve only heard good things about having beta readers… so we shall see. So far I have three and I’m hoping to find two more before the end of the month since I’m looking to get feedback before November 10th at the latest… since I still need to make those changes and have my editor look over the book one last time before print.

If interested in being a beta reader for book 2 go to my contact page and send me an email with the subject – Interested In Beta Reading Book 2

Third on the List!

If you have followed me on Instagram you have probably seen a picture or two of sketches hinting towards them being in the book. The plan is to have each chapter leading with an image that either reflects something in the chapter or talks about an item mentioned in the book. For example: Liora’s earring, the manifest, Caldor’s pipe… and so on.

Hopefully I will get to share more with you as time goes on, but it is balancing life right now that I’m having to focus my attention to.

Fourth thing!

I have been changing up the content on here lately as I want to try new things to see what you think. If there are any suggestions or things you want me to try my hand at on here let me know. These suggestions could be short stories, more weird/ old words, talking about my writing process or self-publishing experience, or a question you have wanted to ask me but haven’t had a chance to. Just let me know! 🙂

All right… so I think I’ve covered everything I wanted to talk to you all about today.

As always thank you for following me on here. I know it has been crazy with me lately and so thank you for being patient. As things are starting to get figured out with my life I am starting to be able to get back to blogging – as you have probably noticed.

Until next time stay safe, be creative and as always – Toodles! ^.^

Update: Here’s Things You Should Know

tumblr_n515s2bmnj1s9ed8bo4_500

Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while but I have reason for this. I am so so sorry I haven’t been gracing this blog with my presents as of late. I need to learn to balance my time better but I have so much going on in my life I’ve decided one big update should explain everything to you.

I’ve been in good spirits as of late and just have been really busy trying to find work since moving to a new city. Also I’m trying to finish book two. There are other reasons I’ve also been MIA but before that I want to let you know that I’ve updated the synopsis of book 2 if you are curious to know more about what the second book of the P6 series has to offer. CLICK HERE FOR THAT

Now onto my reasons:

|REASON 1|

Book 2 is almost done the pre-editing process and I’ve gotten to the point where I’m wanting to get peoples thoughts on what I’ve gotten so far. I set up a Wattpad account to do this in hopes of getting a variety of opinions, suggestions, and so on to improve my story.

|REASON 2|

I also have been MIA because I recently found out that someone wishes to turn my book into a visual novel giphygame… which I have to say is pretty exciting since I live for visual novel games. I’ve been spending a lot of time doing my own graphic design projects in hopes of getting the basic ideas for each character flushed out before the game crew takes over. If you want to see some character concepts you can check out my P6 Facebook Page.

I am super excited for this I can’t handle it. :3

|REASON 3|

For a while I’ve been debating on going with a self-publishing company to publish book 2, which has taken a lot of my free time researching which one would fit me. I also came to the conclusion that none of them fit me and I will likely publish on my own again… but I need to figure out ways of getting my book out there.

If any of you have some fun hints on self-marketing your book and are willing to share I’d love you for life!

|REASON 4|nudge-nudge-wink-wink-o

I have sent requests to a couple of book reviewers in hopes book 1 will be reviewed to gain more traction. We shall see what happens there since I haven’t heard anything from anyone yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

If you are looking for a book to review you are more than welcome to review mine.

All right, I think that’s it for now. If I have anything else to add I’ll do another update. Until then stay classy!! 🙂

(And no I don’t feel bad for using that many gifs in one post.)

Bits of Book 2:”Repent an’ I’ll forgive yah”

There was the crackling of explosions in the distance. The familiar echoing of cries muffled by the clashing of metal. His back was wet as his head pounded. He looked up at the burnt sky. A funnel of smoke snaked across his view.

This wasn’t Menk.

Sitting up, he felt the put of his stomach sink. The blood was in the air as blue tattered capes flapped in the wind. The noble war beasts lay like burial mounds as he pulled himself to his feet. He spun, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. He couldn’t possibly be back here. It had been years since he stood knee deep in his personal hell.

“Foe…” he heard his name across the field as he bolted in the direction.

This wasn’t real. This couldn’t have been real.

He stopped, seeing the young man pinned under the black beast. Blood dripped from his lips staining his ginger beard. A gash was across his forehead and his crown was buried behind him in the muck.

“Cain,” Foe gasped, leaping into action to pry away the creature laying atop of the King. “Stay still, me boy. I’ll get yah free.”

“Boy?” Cain gave a moist laugh, spitting blood across the front of his armour. “I’m older than yah. Must’ve hit yar head harder than yah thought, eh?”

Foe forced a laugh, pulling the man out of the muck before collapsing beside him. This scene haunted his dreams but never with such detail. He could feel the mud seeping into his boots and squishing between his fingers as he leaned his weight back.  Blood filled the air, along with the sulfur they used in the pop pots. His eyes burnt from the smoke, and ears still faintly buzzed from the explosion.

“I shouldn’ve listened to yah,” Cain croaked. His emerald eyes peered up to the sky. They glistened with tears as they ran down his temples and into his matted locks. “We’d be alive if not for yah.”

“Aye, I know…” Foe breathed heavily through his nose, pressing his eyes shut. He didn’t need some bloody nightmare to remind him of his guilt.

He had pushed for a frontal assault. He had believed he had thought everything through. He had considered their enemy but it was his allies that he had forgotten to count.

They lit the pop pots early. The explosion went off before they had cleared the field. He had convinced them of the plan. He had given the signal to light the pots. It was his fault.

“Rio, Mac, Der, Javi… Me,” Cain listed, “we’re all dead cause of yar stupid mistake. Yah know how good the world would be if I was still alive. If I was still King we’d ‘ave pushed the lines… not sit like me brother’s doin’.”

“I know… yah don’ think I know…” Foe growled, “not a day goes by that I don’ think of what happened. I would do anythin’ to right me wrongs. I’d do anythin’ to bring yah peace.”

“Repent,” Cain muttered, struggling to reach for his dagger. His fingers wrapped around the hilt as he pulled it from the sheath. The silver blade glistened like fire in the dim dank trenches. “Repent an’ I’ll forgive yah.”

Bits of Book 2: “Repent Fer Wat Yah Did!”

When the light faded he moved his arms away to see what had happened. The familiar noise of crashing waves rang in his ears with the calling of gulls that fought the strong winds off the water. The smell of salt and kelp filled the air. The mist from the waves stuck to his wool robe decorating his robe with glass droplets across his sleeves and collar.

Tucking away his glasses inside his robe, Caldor looked around in a daze. This was not possible. Where he stood couldn’t have been real.

The large wooden ships lined the docks. The sky was a mix of dark green and grey that circled together in the clouds over head. Gulls called, fighting the gusts off the water while others bobbed like buoys. Barrels were piled high along the ward, as huts made of drift wood and tarps lined the roadway.

“Fish Bank…” Caldor spat. Everything was as he remembered it. Everything was identical to how it was the last time he had been standing on the docks.

“Boy!” the growling howl sent a current through his back freezing his feet to the wave soaked boards.

Peering back over his shoulder, he felt like that child again standing on the docks that night which changed his life. The man’s wrinkled round face with his yellow stained beard, the vomit on his plaid vest, and tattered hole in the right leg of his brown cotton pants. His thread like hair stiff with salt water hid the red rims of his squinty eyes.

“Father,” Caldor snarled, “why are you here?”

Caldor faced the man, regaining himself as he dusted the droplets that moistened his palms. This obviously wasn’t real. The man that stood before him had been dead for over forty years.

“I’m here fer yah ta repent,” his father’s voice was mostly slurred as he clutched to the brown glass bottle by his side. He lifted the bottle, gesturing towards the ocean where the waves rocked the large ships. “Repent fer wat yah did!”
