Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:
Gornardcloseup.jpg

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

SoLK’s Chapter Edits and Realizations

bookthreeupdate

Last update I talked about being done chapter three, this time I am done chapter four.

Not a huge success but I had to go back to make changes to the previous chapters to help make sense of what the later chapters are going to hold. I have mentioned before I’m not a planner when it comes to writing books.

I have a plan in the sense where I know where I want the story to end up but when it comes to chapters and details I have no freaking clue. I let the characters guide the story and allow their personalities to create the scenes.

For example:

I had originally planned for the story to begin with Liora hurrying to meet the King of the South as per Empress Mardina’s request… but something about that wasn’t right.

Mardina is a relatively kind woman with a protectiveness for the things she “owns” – like Liora. Liora is useful for La’reen with her abilities to see and predict things – and even more-so now that her talents of seeing are getting stronger. Mardina would be in fear of losing Liora to her cousin, and so wouldn’t permit Liora anywhere near Min’din during the King’s visit to La’reen.

As those of you who have read the previous books know, Liora isn’t the type to listen to someone when they say no. She lets her curiosity get the better of her and finds loop holes to get what she wants, (or just straight out does it without any regard of the punishment involved). In book three, one of those moments is seeing the Southern King. She doesn’t just do it because she wants to see what Min’din is like compared to Charn – his Northern counterpart – but wants to find out what Min’din knows about her peoples’ massacre.

The King wants to meet with Liora, not because he wants to meet the girl, but because she is a tool that can get him what he wants. Mardina’s downfall of showing off Liora like one of her prized possessions has come back to bite her in the butt by having someone in the court tell the Southern King that Mardina has a Seer, which in turn could help Min’din find answers about his son that no one else has been able to answer.

This complicated balance of personalities is what drives the first chapters.

Liora wants answers about her people and Min’din’s role in their deaths. Mardina wants to keep her new toy away from her cousin. Min’din wants answers about his son and the future of his country. Everyone has a want, and how they go about achieving it is very different.

So, when I originally started writing I tried to go with what I had planned and soon discovered I was writing the story and not my characters. As soon as I stepped back and basically said, “Liora, take the wheel”, the story began to develop into this complicated wonder I now have before me.

Compared to book two, book three is going to be filled with a lot of events intersecting and reacting with one another. Liora is becoming a player in the game of politics, and soon her actions are going to start affecting more than just herself or the Six. Book Three: Sons of Lost Kings, is going to be where Liora wakes up and realizes that one person can make an impact on their world, whether they want to or not.

Anyways… that was my writing realization of the day.

Until next time – toodles!!

5 Star Review & Author Interview

Hello World Out There World!

So, it has been a while since I’ve had anything to share regarding my books and that’s why I’m happy to tell you that Child of the Light got another 5 star review. At the moment it have 4 stars on Goodreads, 4.5 stars on iTunes, 4.5 stars on Amazon,  and now 5 stars from Serious Reading. (No one has rated me on Smashwords or Kobo yet, so I couldn’t share my stats from them).

Mind is blown… cannot function…

Anyways, in all seriousness if you are interested in reading the review check out the link HERE.

Also, they posted an author interview with me HERE – if any of you want to learn a little more about me. I talk about what inspired me to write the series, my thoughts on mental health, and other interesting topics I have yet to share in my blog.

Thank you all! Thank you all who have rated my books and left reviews. I also want to thank all of those on my blog (old and new) for your continued support, comments, and likes. Prophecy Six is growing slowly but it wouldn’t be growing if I didn’t have any of you. 🙂

Until next time stay safe, get creative, and as always toodles!

UPDATE: Site Changes And Book Update

Hello world out there world!!

As it has passed just one year since I started this blog I thought I would give the site a little bit of a face lift. As you have probably noticed there is actually colour to my site now, blues and dark blues. I very much like the new design and hopefully I’ll be able to make a couple of other updates as the week goes on.

In news regarding book two – it is still in the editing process and is on track to be published by December boding everything goes well.

Some exciting news! I am four followers away from 500, which blow my mind considering I started this blog a year ago with no one. I am thankful for all of you who have stuck around and have help support me through the ups and downs of this self-publish process. You are what helped make this all possible.

Anyways, that is all I have for now. I hope to have some exciting new things to announce soon but they are in the works – therefore I don’t want to get your hopes up.

All the best and until next time Toodles!

Just Wanted to Share

Hello World out there world!

As my second book is going through it’s first round of editing I find myself trying to figure out what to do with myself. You don’t realize how much writing takes up the time in your life when you decide it is time for a break.

Yes, I’ve been working on pieces for book 3 but I do not want to get to much into it until I have book 2 set in print. That way I have something to fall back on and review while working on book 3. Basically establishing canon and insuring I follow it correctly. I do have notes but sometimes I stray away from them and need to review earlier works to figure out what my notes don’t have.

I guess this would be a good time to focus on other projects… like figuring out how to market my books and maybe even update my official website which I haven’t done since April… I’m bad for procrastinating… but what writer isn’t…

Maybe I’ll do that today. Do a couple of updates on the website, work on the pictures for the visual novel game, and maybe get around to working on my other book project. Yes, I have more than one series in mind. This one is first person POV and based in present day. Many of you have read pieces from it that I’ve posted on here, and your positive responses have helped me decide I should turn it into a book.

If any of you have some fun marketing ideas/ suggestions I’m always welcome to hearing about them. I’ve read enough things online about marketing that I know I’m open to anything at this point. XD

Anyways, I think I’m going to sign off now and go see what else I can work on so early in the day.

Toodles for now!

Update: Here’s Things You Should Know

tumblr_n515s2bmnj1s9ed8bo4_500

Okay, so I’ve been MIA for a while but I have reason for this. I am so so sorry I haven’t been gracing this blog with my presents as of late. I need to learn to balance my time better but I have so much going on in my life I’ve decided one big update should explain everything to you.

I’ve been in good spirits as of late and just have been really busy trying to find work since moving to a new city. Also I’m trying to finish book two. There are other reasons I’ve also been MIA but before that I want to let you know that I’ve updated the synopsis of book 2 if you are curious to know more about what the second book of the P6 series has to offer. CLICK HERE FOR THAT

Now onto my reasons:

|REASON 1|

Book 2 is almost done the pre-editing process and I’ve gotten to the point where I’m wanting to get peoples thoughts on what I’ve gotten so far. I set up a Wattpad account to do this in hopes of getting a variety of opinions, suggestions, and so on to improve my story.

|REASON 2|

I also have been MIA because I recently found out that someone wishes to turn my book into a visual novel giphygame… which I have to say is pretty exciting since I live for visual novel games. I’ve been spending a lot of time doing my own graphic design projects in hopes of getting the basic ideas for each character flushed out before the game crew takes over. If you want to see some character concepts you can check out my P6 Facebook Page.

I am super excited for this I can’t handle it. :3

|REASON 3|

For a while I’ve been debating on going with a self-publishing company to publish book 2, which has taken a lot of my free time researching which one would fit me. I also came to the conclusion that none of them fit me and I will likely publish on my own again… but I need to figure out ways of getting my book out there.

If any of you have some fun hints on self-marketing your book and are willing to share I’d love you for life!

|REASON 4|nudge-nudge-wink-wink-o

I have sent requests to a couple of book reviewers in hopes book 1 will be reviewed to gain more traction. We shall see what happens there since I haven’t heard anything from anyone yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for that one.

If you are looking for a book to review you are more than welcome to review mine.

All right, I think that’s it for now. If I have anything else to add I’ll do another update. Until then stay classy!! 🙂

(And no I don’t feel bad for using that many gifs in one post.)
