World of Gaitan: The Fellowship of Flesh

In the world of Gaitan there are many diverse and wondrous things; one of which are the fascinating groups. This week we will be showing you a quote from the official lore website about the group called The Fellowship of Flesh:

The Fellowship of Flesh is a group commonly known as specializing in medical advancement found in the University of La’reen. There of course are two secs, one of which gets little attention in fear of what the public would say. This second unknown group is the Brotherhood of Flesh in the Temple of Chaos found in the Southern Capital of Syder. Both groups originated in the Temple of Chaos about 2000 years before the present day. Their focus was the create preventative medicines due to overpopulation and long-term exposure to the battlefront. It was about 1260 years before the present day that the Fellowship split in two – one moving to La’reen (Fellowship of Flesh) and one staying hidden within the Temple (Brotherhood of Flesh). With La’reen’s drive for peace and dedication for the betterment of Gaitan they continued to focus on ways to improve the lives of those around them. They permitted those desiring to specialize in medicine to come to the city no matter their background – Dermite, Chijin, Mix Breed, or what have you. This was the birth of a new University in the South allowing for a united education system, which was the first of it’s kind.

Concept Art for Emery Thermae

A while back I had the very talented Masha draw up a image of the Prophecy Six main character Liora. Since I loved her style and the way the image turned out I asked her to draw the other member of the Six who has been revealed in book 2- Children of Sirphan. I couldn’t wait to share her with you and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Without further delay, here is the concept art for Emery Thermae – the Child of Water and second of the Six.

What is the first book that made you cry?

Hello Everyone!

When I was a kid I wasn’t much into reading. It’s wasn’t that I couldn’t read… it was just I didn’t find any of the books I was learning in school to be interesting enough. Due to my disinterest in reading the school books my teachers believed I had a learning disability and put me in a separate reading program where I had to read lower level books. Again, these disinterested me as I was more at a grade 11 reading level then a grade 4 reading level.

One of the books I read was Stone Fox, a book about a boy and his dog. Not usually a story I was interested in but it was short and super quick to read. I don’t remember much about the book but with all boy and his dog books the dog dies, leaving the reader a complete blubbering mess by the end. I am a dog person. I love dogs – heck I love animals. So, whenever an animal dies or is killed in tv, movie, or book format I become worse than a teething two-year-old.

Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner was the first book that made me cry. It was also the book that pushed me to bring my very thick historical non-fiction or historical fictions to school so they would stop making me read lower grade books. The teacher’s faces when they gave us free time to read and I – in grade 6 at the time – pulls out Freedom Train: The Story of Harriet Tubman, or The Last of the Mohicans, or one of the Little Women Series. You can thank Sarah, Plain and Tall for getting me into wanting to know more about the frontier and America’s early, horribly cruel history. I still have a fascination with old westerners and learning about the early foundations of the US, (Roots and Hell on Wheels).

Now I pass this question on to you – what is the first book that made you cry? Leave your answers in the comments down below. Until next time, remember, stay safe, be creative, and as always toodles! ^.^

Character Build: Emery Thermae

Some of you have started to read book two, while others haven’t gotten around to reading it. Either way, you will likely hear about Emery Thermae. She is the second member of the Six – the child of water. Her character was an interesting challenge and has grown into one of my favourites. With a history as Menk’s draper apprentice, Emery has a passion for making and creating new outfits for herself and others. She is a little bit of a prude, unable to understand why Liora likes to tend to other peoples problems when it is clear she has her own issues to deal with. Emery is forward and loves to tease people – especially Cael and other male peers. As the second of the Six she is the support character for Liora. She is Liora’s big sister and first female friend closer to Liora’s age. Although the two girls have different personalities and interests, they stand by one another and clearly have a connection.

It took a while to develop Emery’s physical appearance. I knew I wanted the two girls to be opposites. Liora has dark hair, darker skin, and a tomboyish personality. Emery has hair light hair, light skin, and a girly personality. Both girls are set in their ways, but both run into barriers in society. Liora is facing gender policing for wanting to take part in “boy activities”, while Emery is being ostracized for being the person she wants to be. As time goes on Emery will grow into a stronger character and in her own way become her own kind of badass.

Fun fact: Thermae was a name for a facilities for bathing in ancient Rome. As Emery’s parents owned the local bathhouse in Menk, her last name is reference to her parents’ business. 🙂

Now, what was the character design I made for Emery?

Book Two Is Out And It Wasn’t Without Its Challenges

Hello World!

So, the day has finally come to announce the release of book 2 – Children of Sirphan.

Right off the top I’ll tell you I like this book more than my first. I learnt a lot from publishing my first one but the second one has a stronger story and better character development I find.

That, though, isn’t the challenge I am speaking of.

My laptop of eight years has officially died. It took me through university and two books before it decided to go out with a bang. You can say I burned it out… literally…

As I was sitting down yesterday, (December 19th), getting ready to set things up for a smooth launch my laptop had other plans. Within seconds of leaving it on my father-in-law’s couch Mr. Canuck smelt something burning… and well… it wasn’t long before my laptop ended up outside in the snow. Turns out the connection wire burnt out causing all the smoke to happen and the screen to die. I was also lucky to have back ups of the laptop on either online storage or other devices. That meant I was a little behind but not enough to delay the release today!

So, without further delay I want to introduce to you my second book – Children of Sirphan – which is now available for purchase on SMASHWORDS and AMAZON for ebook online. The price for the ebook is $2.99 USD and $3.99 CAD.

Paperback versions will be available closer to the summer as I want to add some special things to the paperback that you won’t be getting with the ebook, (like images for chapter headings and section headings).

If you wish to purchase the newest book of the P6 Series click the links below to be teleported to the shop of your choice. If you have any questions leave them in the comments down below and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Until next time be creative, stay safe, and as always Toodles! ^.^

Official Website Update: Groups

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday I worked more on the official canon website found HERE. This time instead of updating the map I decided it would be interesting to update one of the groups that you will likely come across in the upcoming books. If you are interested in learning more about the Hanging Boatmen CLICK HERE – if not continue on as you were. 🙂

That’s all for now. Toodles. ^.^

Prophecy Six Update: Kadmir

Hey Everyone,

As there is only a month left until book 2 comes out I thought I’d make some more updates to the Official Cannon website for Prophecy Six where you can find all the information you want pertaining to characters, the world’s history, and other awesome information.

Today I made two updates:

  1. Updated the Characters of Prophecy Six – specifically Liora (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE)
  2. Add a new location to the Map of Gaitan – Kadmir (CLICK HERE TO READ MORE)

Now, I wrote Liora’s bio in the past but with the second book coming out I thought it would be good to update it. You can now find out more about her abilities and why her hair turns white. As for Kadmir, those of you that are interested in finding out how the war between the nations started would probably find this update very interesting.

Anyways, that’s all I have for now. I am going to be updating more now as time draws closer to the release of book 2 – Children of Sirphan – on December 20th. Toodles for now. 🙂
