CONTEST UPDATE: 88 More To GO!!

88today.jpg

So, I woke up this morning to find that 12 of you wonderful people have come together to download a FREE copy of my book. That is such an amazing feeling and I can’t thank you all enough for all those who are sharing, reviewing, or reposting to help us get to the goal of being on the publishing list. I hope that we can keep this going and reach 0 before October 30 as there are already so many people close to the finish line already. But I’m keeping my hopes up and my head held high – because even if I don’t win I know I have a readership that has my back and that is a wonderful thing to know.

HERE IS THE LINK TO BRING YOU TO THE CONTEST PAGE

Anyways, hugs and loves to you all for helping me out. If we do win I will have to figure out a way to repay all of you for getting use to this goal. Any suggestions? XD

I’ll keep you all updated on what is going on when there is something to update but until next time – toodles! o^.^o

I Need Your Help To Get Published!

The contest I’m entering so you know I’m not a liar. XD

So, I entered a contest for publication and marketing with the online group called Inkitt. I am curious to see if we are capable of getting book one – Child of the Light – republished.

This is what I need you all to do.

I need you to go to this link HERE and click ‘GET A FREE COPY’. You will get the chance to not only get a free copy of my first book but also help get me one step closer to the marketing help I need to get my book to a larger audience.

I just need 100 of the 600 of you to do this for me! Let’s see if we can do this! 🙂

Donation Complete

Under the stipulations I made for myself was the section where I would print screen the donation once it has been put through/ accepted by the charity. One thing I want to make sure is that you know that I’ve done what I came out to do since you all went through the effort of participating in this contest. So, here is the proof that I donated to the winner’s charity.

I blacked this out due to sensitive information. Also the reason I donated 200 dollars to this one charity is because how strongly I feel towards inspiring the future generations and for the Indigenous people of my country of Canada. Living in the North I’ve seen what programs like Indspire can do for a community and I’ve also known a few people who had the help of Indspire while they were completing their education at the university I went to. So, I honestly believed 100 dollars wasn’t good enough to help those who need that little extra financial support to get to where they need to go.

Thank you to the winner Marian L. Thorpe for her passionate entry, and congratulation on winning this contest. Thank you to everyone who participated and I look forward to possibly doing this again next year. 🙂

Winner of the ‘If I Had 100 Dollars’ Contest

The Winner of the ‘If I Had 100 Dollars’ Contest. I can see from this post that Marian L. Thorpe was incredibly passionate about her charity and that this charity Indspire will help many Canadian Indigenous peoples gain a better education and become strong leaders of their communities.
Thank you, Marian for your participation in this contest and I look forward to reading more of your works in the future.

Check out her wonderful entry and this fantastic charity for more information. 🙂

I’ve written a fair bit on my other blog, Two Simple Lives, about how books and stories shaped my view of the world. As with most children, I was drawn to those books that mirrored my own family, solidifying my sense of cultural heritage, helping me understand and relate to my grandparents and parents who would always be a little out of place in the land to which they’d emigrated…and finally allowing me, as an adult, the cultural fluidity to move easily between two countries.

I did not grow up in a wealthy family. There was no extra money at all when I was a child. I wore hand-me-downs from my sister and from family friends, my bike had been second-hand about twenty owners before…but there were always books. Books passed on from friends whose children had outgrown them. Books as birthday and Christmas presents. Books from the library. Children’s…

If I Had 100 Dollars Writing Contest End Date Change

Really people! I gave you two weeks to send me your submissions and not one of you entered. This is to help people… this is for a good cause…

All right, I’ll give you all a second chance. I will not end the contest today. The new end date is on MARCH 5/2016. That is a Saturday, by the way. Hopefully this time I’ll have at least someone enter.

The rules are as follows:

Write a Blog Post no less than 100 and no more than 3000 words with the title – If I Had 100 Dollars

The post will be about a charity that’s main focus is about children, education, or literacy. (There are a lot of options out there for these… I know… I’ve looked…)

The post should talk briefly about the charity and why you think they deserve the donation. What made you choose this charity? Why do you want me to choose this charity? Also include a link to the charity site (so I can check it out and learn more about the charity you have written about).

If you don’t want to blog or can’t blog, send me your post by email.

Tweet me the link to your post @DProphecy6 or email me at prophecy6@outlook.com.

The end date for this will be March 7TH, 2016.

NOW, what will I do and what will the winners get:

  1. I will either reblog or post the charity winners on my site on MAR 7th, 2016.
  2. I will print screen the completed transactions of the donations to my blog by MAR 7th, 2016.
  3. I will also follow the winners’ blog and reblog seven of their posts.
  4. The winners will also get a signed paperback version of the first and (eventually) second P6 book.

5 Days Left of Contest!

All right, so there are only five days left of the ‘If I had 100 Dollars‘ Contest that I posted last Tuesday. So far there haven’t been any entries…

No worries, I have faith that someone will post to this contest and if not… I’ll donate the Monday to two charities that I think would benefit from the donations.

So, without further delay I will repost what you need to do for this contest below:

The rules are as follows:

Write a Blog Post no less than 100 and no more than 3000 words with the title – If I Had 100 Dollars

Two Gifts To My Followers Starting Wednesday!

So… I’ve surpassed my goal for this blog about a day ago….

Seven months ago when I started this blog and my journey to self-publish my book series I had in mind that I knew I was doing something right if I could reach 450 followers.

Well people, it’s happened. It took me seven months but today officially puts me at 451 followers and I’m gosh darn toodly doodly that I have to give something back to you all for your awesome support over these months. Now, how will I be giving back?

Two ways actually.

The first way I’ll be giving back is tomorrow’s WWW post.

For this WWW I will be posting 7 Wonderful Words instead of 1 like I usually do. This is to commemorate the seven months of you being so wonderful that I had to put it into seven wonderful words. (Plus that seems to be your favourite segment on my blog next to Old Word Friday). 🙂

The second way I want to show my thanks for your support actually involves a little more work from you- bare with me while I explain.

The whole point in writing this book – heck this series – was to help people. This whole project started with me, but you all have been their for the ride and I want you all to feel like you’re involved in making things happen.

So…

What I want to do is donate 200 dollars to charity. This isn’t book money… since my first book is being offered for free… but money out of my own pocket. I just want to help others and with a growing community like mine I want everyone here to be able to have a chance to make a difference.

What I want to do is give the money to two charities. That means 100 dollars to each charity. There are a lot of charities out there and so this is where I hopefully get you all involved in this adventure.
