Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:
Gornardcloseup.jpg

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

I have finally gotten around to updating

It has been a while since I talked about my third book of the P6 Series… but yes it is still happening!

I have been working my butt off trying to get some of it done between my busy schedule. I am currently on chapter three, and like always, Liora’s curiosity is getting the better of her.

The question is, will the King of the South be as forgiving as the King of the North?

You’ll have to wait and see. ^.^

Bring You Trouble

loveyou

“I know you care and that you’re hurting but…” he took her hand, “I know you love me too.”

He held her eyes, hands trembling in hers. She knew he was hoping for her to say those words but they wouldn’t grace her tongue. She loved him, she really did… but she was afraid.

“Being with me will only bring you trouble,” she breathed. Her eyes falling to his hands that tightened at those words. “I’m not a person who can stay in one place…”

Taste of Prophecy Six: Ginger Honey Switchel

Prophecy Six Series – Child of the Light – is on sale until April 14th. Since that is going on I thought I’d share with you a recipe that I’ve been using since writing book 2 – Children of Sirphan.

In book two – Children of Sirphan – during Liora’s Name Day, she spends some time working in the garden in Demor. While she is taking a break Marcia comes to keep her company under the shade of one of the merchant carts, offering the girl something to drink. This bitter-sweet liquid is called switchel, a drink similar to Kombucha but not as popular. Unlike Kombucha, Switchel relies on pre-fermented items to create the drink and is actually very simple to make.

Other name’s Switchel is known as is:

  • Haymaker’s Punch
  • Ginger-water
  • Swizzy

The drink is high in electrolyte and is very refreshing on a hot day. It does take time to aquire a taste for the stuff, but it is worth a try.

Now, without further delay. Here is the Ginger Honey Switchel recipe to make your own.

Prep time: 5 mins                        Cook time: N/A                When to Make:  Hot Days!

Ingredients:

2 tbs apple cider vinegar (unfiltered)

3 tbs honey (raw)

2 inch piece of ginger root (fresh, peeled, and minced)

4 cups water (filtered)

1/2 of fresh lemon juice with zest

Items you’ll need:

Knife

Spoon

Cutting Board

Jug

Measuring cup

Measuring spoons

Grater

Instructions:

Mince ginger, juice and zest lemon, and add to a large jar/jug. Add the rest of the ingredients mentioned above to the jug. Stir/ shake well until honey is dissolved. Place in refrigerator overnight. Next day shake well and pour over ice.

World of Gaitan: The Hanging Boatmen

As many of you know I have an official lore site for my book series – Prophecy Six – where I write extra information about the cities, peoples, and histories of the world the series takes place in. You get to learn about the characters mentioned in the series and the creatures which are unique to Gaitan, along with some hints to things not yet mentioned in the books published so far. One of these groups is ‘The Hanging Boatmen’, who will be introduced in the third book – Sons of Lost Kings.

I thought I’d share a little bit about this group and link to the full description found on the official site if anyone is interested in reading more. Enjoy!

Hanging Boatmen is a group of Dermite bandits and thieves that raid the waterways between Derlin (Derm’s Capital) and King’s Port. They are believed to be responsible for the majority of the crime within the capital city and have claimed several heinous actions such as setting fire to the logging camps near Bay’s Lake, the hanging/plundering/burning of several shipping vessels within the shipping channel, raiding the armoury in the lower district of the capital city, and the kidnapping/murder of Lieutenant Rowel Brickton of the Gryphon Guard’s wife and daughters.

Concept Art for Emery Thermae

A while back I had the very talented Masha draw up a image of the Prophecy Six main character Liora. Since I loved her style and the way the image turned out I asked her to draw the other member of the Six who has been revealed in book 2- Children of Sirphan. I couldn’t wait to share her with you and I can’t wait to hear what you think. Without further delay, here is the concept art for Emery Thermae – the Child of Water and second of the Six.

Dialogue Prompt: Stop Pining

1

They walked side-by-side down the hallway. Neither spoke. Neither really had to speak after everything they had gone through. She hated to admit Argo was right. She was happy to have considered what the Shadow had said and found herself a guard all on her own. It wasn’t like Charn would allow Gornard back into the Gryphon Guard after his recent misconduct.

There came laughter from the walkway leading to the training grounds, as she caught herself glancing up for a moment to see the squirrel faced girl clinging to Cael’s arm. The sight of them together made her stomach gurgle and chest burn, but she knew her bitter jealousy wouldn’t erase her lack of action.

“Yah’re gonna have to stop that,” Gornard grumbled.

“Stop what?” Liora’s attention jumped back to the large man beside her, who glanced down at her with his golden eyes.

“Pinin’. If yah ain’ gonna fix it yah might as well let him go.” He took a deep breath seeing the girl look down at her hands to pick at her nails. “He means a lot to yah, eh?”

She nodded. “More than you know…”

“Then show ‘im that. If yah care, show him that yah care.”

“How?” She felt him give her a gentle push forward in the direction Cael and Milly had disappeared.

“Yah’ll know when yah see him.”
