Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:
Gornardcloseup.jpg

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

Bring You Trouble

loveyou

“I know you care and that you’re hurting but…” he took her hand, “I know you love me too.”

He held her eyes, hands trembling in hers. She knew he was hoping for her to say those words but they wouldn’t grace her tongue. She loved him, she really did… but she was afraid.

“Being with me will only bring you trouble,” she breathed. Her eyes falling to his hands that tightened at those words. “I’m not a person who can stay in one place…”

Dialogue Prompt: Turn Tail

She halted in her steps just before the door, her body still like a wooden board. She turned to set her glare upon him like a challenged dog. Those eyes had been the first thing he had seen in the darkness the night before. The unnatural ice blue glow that no longer struct fear into him when he saw them glistening behind her long black hair.

“Why do you want to help? Most humans turn tail and run at this point.” She hissed, taking slow steps back to where he stood. Her hands tucked away in her baggy sweatshirt pockets, as the heel of her left combat boot dragged over the Persian rug.

“I…” he swallowed, unsure of the right answer to her question, “I… I don’t know why… I… I just feel like I need to…”

Dialogue Prompt: Three Years

“I’ve waited three years to see her… what’s a few more hours.” Revris slid down the wall, pressing his back into the cool stone. He tightened the grip on his hands, wringing them in hopes to still his impatience.

Yes, he could wait for a few more hours but the fact was he didn’t want to. He had escaped the clutches of that mad man and found his way to his friend’s city in hopes of seeing her upon his arrival. Now, all the excitement he had gotten under control and nerves that were eroding his stoic expression were fading away with the passing minutes. He wanted to see her but time wasn’t on his side.

Dialogue Prompt: Liar & Thief

He charged into the room, fist balled at his side, teeth grinding so hard that they could shatter. How could Argo have done that to him? How could he have told the King everything after requesting for the Shadow not to speak a word?

“How dare you!?” Revris grabbed the man by the collar of his cape, pushing him against the stone wall of the tiny office. “She told me I could trust you!”

With a quick flick of the lack to the neck of his cape, Argo slipped free of the large man’s grasp. He scurried under Revris’s arm and across the room, lifting his hands in a form of surrender in hope to lower the tension of the situation.

“Then you’re the fool for trusting a known liar and a thief,” Argo stated, hearing the angered Commander growl before charging again. With another quick dodge of a swinging fist, and a scattered scurry pinning his back to the closed door it was clear his original plan didn’t work. “He was concerned… he’s your father. I told no one else of what we spoke of – I swear!”

Prompt of the day: She’s my best friend.

His fingers gripped tighter to the edge of the bed. He appreciated that Gornard worried about him but with all his questions it felt his concern was more like an interrogation. They were both responsible for keeping Liora safe. Gornard was her personal guard, and she had placed him as the Commander of her men. He respected her talents and intelligence. She had come a long way from her humble beginnings as a Morzi student to the Master Healer of her people.

“She’s my best friend. That hasn’t changed,” Revris mustered out the words. They sounded more bitter than he had planned. Bitter about her choice in her current lover not for the fact they were friends.

Revris looked up, hearing Gornard snort at the reply. Something about what he had said amused him.

“It’s clear yar feelin’s for her has.” The large man settled himself in the chair across from the bed.

Dialogue Prompt: Trust You with Patients

Liora stopped in mid-step when she heard someone call her attention down the hall behind her. She turned half expecting to find Caldor scuttling to keep up, but there was another Chijin healer desiring her attention. The stout little man with the thick white curls resembling a cotton ball atop his head shuffled towards her. His eyes narrowed, peering over her wired lenses.

“Oldswick,” she tried to fain surprise, although she was expecting the old man would come hunt her down. She knew why he was looking for her, and she understood that he wasn’t going to be in a pleasant mood. “How are you?”

“Master Oldswick to you prospect, and I am not in much of a jovial mood at the moment.” He crossed his arms, taking a deep breath through his pig like nose. “You may know why.”

“I didn’t make it to volunteer with you yesterday,” Liora muttered. “I have a good excuse – the Empress wished for me to-”

“I don’t care. How I am supposed to permit you to take the entrance exams for full membership if you cannot put the time in to volunteer?” Oldswick scoffed. “I allowed you to become a prospect because of your grandmother but if you aren’t going to take this path seriously there are many others more willing to take your place.”

“No, I’m serious! I’m sorry… I just have so much on my plate right now and-”

“Lady Morza, I do not care. What I care about is your work with the Fellowship,” he adjusted his glasses to sit higher up his nose. “When you can’t even find the time to volunteer as a prospect, do you think I can trust you with a patient?”

Liora shook her head no. She wasn’t going to correct him with using her city as her last name. Morzi didn’t have last names but again, La’reen wasn’t Morza and they had their way of doing things. She had to accept that and deal with everything on her own. Oldswick wasn’t understanding like her other instructors, but she still had to stay on his good side if she was to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps.

“I’m sorry, Master Oldswick. I promise it won’t happen again.”

World of Gaitan: The Fellowship of Flesh

In the world of Gaitan there are many diverse and wondrous things; one of which are the fascinating groups. This week we will be showing you a quote from the official lore website about the group called The Fellowship of Flesh:

The Fellowship of Flesh is a group commonly known as specializing in medical advancement found in the University of La’reen. There of course are two secs, one of which gets little attention in fear of what the public would say. This second unknown group is the Brotherhood of Flesh in the Temple of Chaos found in the Southern Capital of Syder. Both groups originated in the Temple of Chaos about 2000 years before the present day. Their focus was the create preventative medicines due to overpopulation and long-term exposure to the battlefront. It was about 1260 years before the present day that the Fellowship split in two – one moving to La’reen (Fellowship of Flesh) and one staying hidden within the Temple (Brotherhood of Flesh). With La’reen’s drive for peace and dedication for the betterment of Gaitan they continued to focus on ways to improve the lives of those around them. They permitted those desiring to specialize in medicine to come to the city no matter their background – Dermite, Chijin, Mix Breed, or what have you. This was the birth of a new University in the South allowing for a united education system, which was the first of it’s kind.
