Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:
Gornardcloseup.jpg

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

Taste of Prophecy Six: Ginger Honey Switchel

Prophecy Six Series – Child of the Light – is on sale until April 14th. Since that is going on I thought I’d share with you a recipe that I’ve been using since writing book 2 – Children of Sirphan.

In book two – Children of Sirphan – during Liora’s Name Day, she spends some time working in the garden in Demor. While she is taking a break Marcia comes to keep her company under the shade of one of the merchant carts, offering the girl something to drink. This bitter-sweet liquid is called switchel, a drink similar to Kombucha but not as popular. Unlike Kombucha, Switchel relies on pre-fermented items to create the drink and is actually very simple to make.

Other name’s Switchel is known as is:

  • Haymaker’s Punch
  • Ginger-water
  • Swizzy

The drink is high in electrolyte and is very refreshing on a hot day. It does take time to aquire a taste for the stuff, but it is worth a try.

Now, without further delay. Here is the Ginger Honey Switchel recipe to make your own.

Prep time: 5 mins                        Cook time: N/A                When to Make:  Hot Days!

Ingredients:

2 tbs apple cider vinegar (unfiltered)

3 tbs honey (raw)

2 inch piece of ginger root (fresh, peeled, and minced)

4 cups water (filtered)

1/2 of fresh lemon juice with zest

Items you’ll need:

Knife

Spoon

Cutting Board

Jug

Measuring cup

Measuring spoons

Grater

Instructions:

Mince ginger, juice and zest lemon, and add to a large jar/jug. Add the rest of the ingredients mentioned above to the jug. Stir/ shake well until honey is dissolved. Place in refrigerator overnight. Next day shake well and pour over ice.

Dialogue Prompt: A Goal is Great!

1

“Having a goal is great but let me ask you – how the hell do you plan on reaching it?” He narrowed his eyes. The girl before him just smirked, knowing the plan that was in her head that she had yet to share with anyone else in the group.

“Let me worry about the details. You’re on a need to know basis at this point on… I just need you to trust me, ‘ight?” Her sweet voice calmed the tension of the situation as the three men glanced at one another. They all had knowledge of the field outside the tent. Each man had done a good deal of fighting in there time but when it came to diplomacy, she had them beat.

It was Foe, her long time friend and mentor that nodded in agreement to her stipulations followed by her fiance and then her good friend. She knew these men trusted her with their lives but she also understood it was difficult for Dermite soldiers to take orders from a woman. She was grateful they were giving her such respect.

UPDATE: Release Date, Official Site & Special Offer

Hello Everyone,

I am hopefully going to post a monthly update from now on. I aim to release these updates the first of every month to let you know about upcoming posts, information pertaining to the Prophecy Six Series, changes in the schedule, and you know… some special offers that you may be interested in, (like at the bottom of this post…)

So, let’s get started:

Upcoming Posts!

As some of you have noticed I have started posting some recipes and my photography on this blog. My goal is to turn Prophecy Six Blog into a place where I can share all my hobbies with you such as my cooking, photography, and DIY projects along with keeping it as a hub for my sharing my writing.

With work and managing several sites online I found it was time to accumulate everything into one ‘mega’ blog in hopes that some of you are interested in what I have to post.

Another series I’m hoping to bring back is Prompts, which I aim to put out every Monday.

The Schedule I have planned is:

MondayWriting, Dialogue, or Character Prompts

Tuesday – Photography, recipe, or DIY

Wednesday – Prophecy Six Focused (Character build, themes, images, book bits).

ThursdayThinking Thursdays

FridayOld Word Friday

Saturday + Sunday – Recovery Days or Special Announcement Days

And yes, before you say it, I know I’m crazy… but that’s part of being a writer.

Prophecy Six Series Announcement:

Today marks only 20 days until book two – Children of Sirphan – is released. I’m so excited I’m just jumping with glee.

As the book is being released I have made some major changes to the Official Book site. Such as:

Updated the About Author’s Page, Layout of the Website, Organization of the site, and Character’s of the Series Pages.

What I have recently added to the site are new location information, information pertaining to the Gods, what the series is about, a contact page, and a subscription page.

Why should you subscribe?
Because the first 50 subscribers it a free e-book version of the second book! I will go into detail about this closer to the release date but you can go to the site now, sign up and you would have reserved a free copy of Children of Sirphan. Subscribers also get updated once month about special events and offers before those who aren’t subscribed, meaning you’re more likely to get the offers before they run out. I’d sign up if I wasn’t the moderator. XD

Anyways, I think I’m done for now. I will be posting another update on December 10th, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Until next time stay safe, get creative, and as always toodles! ^.^

Dialogue Prompt: Never Capable

nevercapable

She peered through the bars that hummed soft in the silence of the damp, narrow hall. He sat there, legs crossed. His green eyes danced over her face and then to her shoulders. He was trying to read her; trying to figure out what she was going to say.

“I asked you for one thing – honesty – but now I know you were never capable of that.” The words escaped her lips like a quick breath. His face scrunched. He shook his head, bolting to his feet charging the bars.

“No, I’ve been nothing but honest with you. I wouldn’t lie ta you, Li… never.” He gripped the bars tighter when he noticed her take a step back.

“Then why are you in La’reen? Why did you come?” She spat, narrowing her eyes. “And don’t give me ‘I’m here to see you’ bull because I know that isn’t the whole truth.”

They stared at each other in silence. He gnawed the inside of his cheek, darting his eyes to the ground and then back up at her. He pushed away, running his hands through his hair, pacing back towards the wall. He muttered something to himself before looking back at her.

“Promise me…” He ground his teeth and cracked the knuckle of his left thumb before continuing, “promise me that you won’t hate me… that you’ll forgive me for what I’m about ta say.”

She forced a breath when her ribs tightened at hearing his words. Whatever he was going to say wasn’t going to be an innocent mistake; she knew that. What he was about to tell her was going to be worse then all the other horrible atrocities he had admitted to prior to his incarceration. Was she willing to forgive him? She could easily say she would but would she physically be capable of seeing him as the same man she cared for after whatever he was about to confess.

After a moment of silence her head nodded without her order. Somewhere inside her believed she was capable, or maybe she hoped it wouldn’t be as horrible as he was making her believe it to be.

“I promise… now what is it?”

Character Builds: Liora

When it comes to writing about characters sometimes it’s helpful to have a general collection of images to reference. I use this as a resource and it is easy to add to it with each book I create. Today I’m focusing on the main character of the Prophecy Six SeriesLiora – as she is the one with the most description and is in all sense the most important of the characters to get the details right with. So, here is the character build I made for her:

liora-character-build

Her clothing style may change and as the book continues there will be new scars I’ll have to add for reference but for the first book this is what I had planned. These images help me visualise the character and make them consistent through the pieces I’m constructing.

I made this in MS Paint and I’ve found it very helpful compared to my old method of hunting through my notes or books for the details I’ve written about her. I hope this method will help some of you in your writing process when approaching character creation. 🙂

Official Website Update: Groups

Hey Everyone,

Yesterday I worked more on the official canon website found HERE. This time instead of updating the map I decided it would be interesting to update one of the groups that you will likely come across in the upcoming books. If you are interested in learning more about the Hanging Boatmen CLICK HERE – if not continue on as you were. 🙂

That’s all for now. Toodles. ^.^
