Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

How Not To Teach Outlining

I have had a lot of great learning experiences and I have had some absolutely terrible ones. Some of these experiences made certain subjects I love now something I couldn’t stand when I was in school. It wasn’t always the teacher, but it was usually the way they chose to teach the subjects that damaged my interest in learning it further.

You may not believe this… but one of those subjects was creative writing.

I have finally gotten around to updating

It has been a while since I talked about my third book of the P6 Series… but yes it is still happening!

I have been working my butt off trying to get some of it done between my busy schedule. I am currently on chapter three, and like always, Liora’s curiosity is getting the better of her.

The question is, will the King of the South be as forgiving as the King of the North?

You’ll have to wait and see. ^.^

Creating a Writing Playlist

Sometimes music can help open your mind and let loose your soul. This is why, when I’m writing I always create a playlist that supports the themes going on. Click the picture below to be teleported to my author website to read the post!

Author Site Post

Trying to get back into writing it like pulling teeth… but here I am doing it.

I just wrote a post for my author site about how we all have a story. Kind of sappy… kind of motivational… sort of. Check it out if you are interested.

I’m Back – With An Update!!!

Oh my Gods!

What has it been… a month? Two Months? It feels like a lifetime since I last posted on this blog. Don’t worry, I have my reasons…

I was suffering from a bought of creative burnout. Yes, that is a thing and I’ll tell you how/ why it happened.

After getting a creative intensive job focused towards blogging, social media, and marketing I didn’t have the energy to come home to do that for my own projects (bad I know). I was used to having jobs focused towards accounting and administration work that focused more on number crunching, allowing for my evenings to be the time I could be creative. With a job that focused on thinking outside the box and finding ways to work creatively to promote various businesses I couldn’t find the power to go home and do the same.

Now, that overload of creative usage is coming to an end!!

With a new job on the horizon I will be able to focus my time between math during the day and creative expression in the evenings. This means posting on this blog more often and working on building my author/ book platforms. I will not be posting every day on this blog like I had in the past, but instead focusing on Dialogue Prompts, short stories, and post updates for my other platforms.

So, to break down the plans on what I’ll be doing for what sites here is a list:

Prophecy Six Blog (this site) is going to be focused towards sharing posts from my other platforms, poems/ photography/ recipes, dialogue prompts, and important updates. (Monday and Friday)

Prophecy Six Series Official Site is focused towards world building for my book series, fun updates about the world or books, my store, and any lovely P6 creations my readers may want to share with the online community. (Wednesday)

Deanna Wiltshire Official Site is focused towards fun facts about me (the author), other writing projects I have in the works (fairy tale retelling, paranormal fiction, children’s book, etc.), tips and tricks when it comes to writing, my store, and book reviews of indie-authors/ Canadian Authors. (Tuesday and Thursday)

Getting these up and running will take some time but I appreciate the patience you have given me so far. I miss writing for all of you and hopefully soon, I’ll be back to my regular writing mood.

Toodles for now!

Monday Writing Prompt: Feed off People

donteatpeople.png

He looked over the glass vials and jars that filled her kitchen cabinets. If it wasn’t for the labels the kitchen would be like anyone else he knew. The Goblin Ears and Kitten Tongues that were stored right next to the Sriracha, though was hard to ignore. Although, from everything he had experienced and from what he had learnt from listening to her, Jaya wasn’t one to eat these things.

“I thought you fed on people,” Royce turned, catching the woman glance over her shoulder before going back to making him a cup of tea.

“I don’t feed off people… that’s barbaric. It is their inspiration that satisfies my hunger now-a-days,” she passed him the China cup. The gold trim around the lip of the cup and the delicate flower pattern was beautiful.

“Isn’t their inspiration still part of them?”

“Sure, but it isn’t something a person has to live on like blood or a heart… inspiration is more like a part they secrete like body odor.”

“Delightful…” Royce tried not to turn up his lip at that comparison but the tone of his voice eluded his control.

Jaya chuckled, settling down on the stool near the corner of the kitchen. Her head pressed against the wall as she rested her hands in her lap. He had thought she was going to make herself some tea but then again what was someone who didn’t need to eat human food do with a cut of steaming liquid?
