Word Counts and Part Reflection

bookthreeupdate

Almost done part one… I know I said that last time but my Gods it is taking longer than I planned. Still, I am proud to announce that I’m at 19k… which is 9k more than my last update.

I also got an amazing image drawn of the new Six – Gornard Stoneborn (AKA: Red) – who you will get to meet in the new book. He’s interesting and I can’t wait to explore his character further once I get to the part he enters. That… will likely be in a few more weeks. Here is the image of him:
Gornardcloseup.jpg

He was drawn by the very talents Masha (here information found HERE). Masha has been my go to artist for all my other Six concepts (Liora and Emery). I have nothing but praise for her talents and can’t wait to have her draw my other three members once I get working on their books.

Oh! I also reached 130 followers on Instagram. Fun… since I have only started regularly posting on that. It has taken me a while to get an grasp on what I should be sharing and I still have little ways to go before I’m at my personal goal. I also need to find ways to boost my book exposure on Amazon, so if any of you have suggestions leave them in the comments below.

I think that’s about it for now…

Weekly update out!

Until next time – toodles!

Expanding the world of Gaitan one story at a time

bookthreeupdate

So, I’ve realized that I write a lot that doesn’t make it into the books I publish. These could be scenes that I’ve cut out, or scenes I’ve created that just never make it to the final draft. I have even written small stories about the adventures of characters that will never be granted the pleasure of being part of the Prophecy Six Series asides from being briefly mentioned in one of Liora’s books of choice in some random chapter.

That changed today.

As I was working on book three – SoLK – I came up with an idea for a short story that followed Liora and her interactions with the Southern King’s dragon. For those that know, Liora is an animal person. She fell for the feathery bird-lions of the north and grew up with the scale wing snakes of the south. No creature can escape Liora’s desire to show them love, no matter how hard they may try. That is why I had to write this short story… which had now led me to a rabbit hole that I cannot escape from.

I know I should be working on SoLK, and I’m almost done Part One, (super psyched about that), but these short stories are opening my mind to the world I created in a whole new way. I’m learning the history of the world and how certain cultures were shaped. I’m taking key figures mentioned in the books, (Evrin, Berk, Kanrow, and of course Har), and turning them into stand alone adventures away from the P6 Series. I’m exploring personalities and places that I never would have imagined, all because of the idea of writing short stories.

I don’t know where this is going to go, but I’m having too much fun to stop.

Anyways, back down the rabbit hole I go! XD

Until next time – toodles! ^.^

SoLK’s Chapter Edits and Realizations

bookthreeupdate

Last update I talked about being done chapter three, this time I am done chapter four.

Not a huge success but I had to go back to make changes to the previous chapters to help make sense of what the later chapters are going to hold. I have mentioned before I’m not a planner when it comes to writing books.

I have a plan in the sense where I know where I want the story to end up but when it comes to chapters and details I have no freaking clue. I let the characters guide the story and allow their personalities to create the scenes.

For example:

I had originally planned for the story to begin with Liora hurrying to meet the King of the South as per Empress Mardina’s request… but something about that wasn’t right.

Mardina is a relatively kind woman with a protectiveness for the things she “owns” – like Liora. Liora is useful for La’reen with her abilities to see and predict things – and even more-so now that her talents of seeing are getting stronger. Mardina would be in fear of losing Liora to her cousin, and so wouldn’t permit Liora anywhere near Min’din during the King’s visit to La’reen.

As those of you who have read the previous books know, Liora isn’t the type to listen to someone when they say no. She lets her curiosity get the better of her and finds loop holes to get what she wants, (or just straight out does it without any regard of the punishment involved). In book three, one of those moments is seeing the Southern King. She doesn’t just do it because she wants to see what Min’din is like compared to Charn – his Northern counterpart – but wants to find out what Min’din knows about her peoples’ massacre.

The King wants to meet with Liora, not because he wants to meet the girl, but because she is a tool that can get him what he wants. Mardina’s downfall of showing off Liora like one of her prized possessions has come back to bite her in the butt by having someone in the court tell the Southern King that Mardina has a Seer, which in turn could help Min’din find answers about his son that no one else has been able to answer.

This complicated balance of personalities is what drives the first chapters.

Liora wants answers about her people and Min’din’s role in their deaths. Mardina wants to keep her new toy away from her cousin. Min’din wants answers about his son and the future of his country. Everyone has a want, and how they go about achieving it is very different.

So, when I originally started writing I tried to go with what I had planned and soon discovered I was writing the story and not my characters. As soon as I stepped back and basically said, “Liora, take the wheel”, the story began to develop into this complicated wonder I now have before me.

Compared to book two, book three is going to be filled with a lot of events intersecting and reacting with one another. Liora is becoming a player in the game of politics, and soon her actions are going to start affecting more than just herself or the Six. Book Three: Sons of Lost Kings, is going to be where Liora wakes up and realizes that one person can make an impact on their world, whether they want to or not.

Anyways… that was my writing realization of the day.

Until next time – toodles!!

I have finally gotten around to updating

It has been a while since I talked about my third book of the P6 Series… but yes it is still happening!

I have been working my butt off trying to get some of it done between my busy schedule. I am currently on chapter three, and like always, Liora’s curiosity is getting the better of her.

The question is, will the King of the South be as forgiving as the King of the North?

You’ll have to wait and see. ^.^

World of Gaitan: The Fellowship of Flesh

In the world of Gaitan there are many diverse and wondrous things; one of which are the fascinating groups. This week we will be showing you a quote from the official lore website about the group called The Fellowship of Flesh:

The Fellowship of Flesh is a group commonly known as specializing in medical advancement found in the University of La’reen. There of course are two secs, one of which gets little attention in fear of what the public would say. This second unknown group is the Brotherhood of Flesh in the Temple of Chaos found in the Southern Capital of Syder. Both groups originated in the Temple of Chaos about 2000 years before the present day. Their focus was the create preventative medicines due to overpopulation and long-term exposure to the battlefront. It was about 1260 years before the present day that the Fellowship split in two – one moving to La’reen (Fellowship of Flesh) and one staying hidden within the Temple (Brotherhood of Flesh). With La’reen’s drive for peace and dedication for the betterment of Gaitan they continued to focus on ways to improve the lives of those around them. They permitted those desiring to specialize in medicine to come to the city no matter their background – Dermite, Chijin, Mix Breed, or what have you. This was the birth of a new University in the South allowing for a united education system, which was the first of it’s kind.

There is a lot more about this group and if you wish to explore the world of Gaitan closer just CLICK HERE!

If only they understood…

There are those in life that won’t accept you, but there are many you’ll meet that will happily be by your side.

Child of the Light

The world of Gaitan is used to conflict.

War has been common place between the northern and southern countries for centuries, but it isn’t their hatred which led to the city of Morza’s demise.

The Chaos Singers would say the Gods came down and cleansed the land in a brilliant light to prepare for the ending of the Era.

The common folk would say it was an explosion from the evening’s festivities gone wrong.
The truth is no one knows what happened that night.

Except one.

Upon investigating the remains of the city, in hopes of finding
information that could lead to a cure to the Northern prince’s mysterious sickness, Caldor Lefwid – an old sage – sights what appears to be fresh footprints heading towards the forest.

This discovery brings hope to an otherwise hopeless situation, and Caldor decides to take a chance.

With help from his trusted friend – Foe – Caldor begins the journey to find the last survivor of Morza and the cure the North is praying for.

Child of the Light is a fiction, fantasy, self-discovery story focused towards young adults (ages 14+). It’s the first book of the Prophecy 6 series, and covers a variety of issues facing young adults and the world today such as displacement due to conflict, and othering.

If you want a quick and easy read, this is the book for you.
